Product Description
TSC Inspection Systems AMIGO Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM)
The AMIGO represents the latest developments in ACFM topside inspection technology. The device provides all the advantages of ACFM inspection seen in earlier TSC instruments in the smallest, lightest form, along with the added benefits of array probe support and a long battery life.
The system provides:
- Quick scanning with a portable probe.
- Accurate crack sizing (depth and length) and detection.
- Options for two frequencies 5kHz (for ferritic steel, for best results). For better sensitivity on non-ferrous metals, use 50 kHz.
- IP54 rated rugged site unit.
- A single fully charged battery pack can run for at least five hours, and changing out power packs in the field is simple.
- 110 to 240V AC (50 or 60 Hz) mains-powered battery charger.
- Lowered cleaning needs because bare metal doesn’t need to be cleaned.
- Capable of being inspected through non-conductive coatings that are several millimeters thick or through thin metallic coatings.
- Support Microsoft Windows software for interoperability with other Windows apps and ease of use.
- Complete data storage for auditing, off-line viewing, and backup.
- Access to a variety of geometries through the active topside probes offered by TSC.
- Instrument and larger probe buttons for RUN/STOP and MARKERS enable one individual to operate in hard-to-reach places.
- Serial numbers are put into probes to make operations easier.

PROBES
The ACFM probes for use with the Amigo contain the following features:
- Conventional probes have a tangential field inducer that provides a regionally homogeneous input field and concentric, or neighboring, sensors that measure the Bx and Bz fields concurrently.
- Up to two orthogonal field inducers and up to 32 sensors can be found in array probes.
- Include firmware to allow alternative buttons and LEDs, a picture with a unique serial number, and circuitry that filter and amplify signals.
SOFTWARE
The AMIGO operates with one of TSC’s ASSIST suite of software thus providing a common operating environment with other ACFM products. This avoids the need for operator retraining.
The ASSIST Software contains the following features:
- It is compatible with Windows 2000 or later. allowing word processors, spreadsheet programs, and other programs to operate simultaneously, as well as providing an interface for all standard printers.
- Support for external encoders and USB-RS232 converters.
- The visual representation of processed data for crack identification (color contour C scan plots for array probes, butterfly plot for standard probes, and timebase Bx and Bz).
- Plotting data against time and distance is possible if an encoder is employed.
- Position on scan is indicated by automated clock markers.
- Adjustable speed based on application.
- Data view scrolling for lengthy scanning.
- Automatically adjusts to the data’s screen width, allowing for any scale of zoom.
