Product Description
Niton XLP 300A Portable XRF 300 Series Lead Paint Analyzer by Thermo Scientific
The industry standard for lead analysis is the Thermo Scientific NITON XLi and XLp 300 Series analyzers, which are used in everything from paint to soils and sediments, dust wipes and air filters, and screening for lead in ceramic products and kid’s toys.
Lead may be swiftly detected and measured in almost every sample type, including paint, soil, sediment, dust, air, and more, using Thermo Scientific NITON x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers. They work well for checking for lead in ceramic products and kid’s toys, but not for measuring lead concentrations. If lead is found in an article, it should be forwarded to a lab for additional testing.
The NITON 300 Series detects whether lead is positive (defined by the US EPA as greater than or equal to 1.0 mg/cm2) or negative in a matter of seconds, and is backed by a Performance Characteristic Sheet (PCS) that shows zero inconclusive readings, zero need for substrate correction, and zero false positives/false negatives. To guarantee adherence to regional laws, users in jurisdictions with stricter criteria can simply modify the action level. Additionally, actual lead values are shown, enabling users to more precisely estimate the risks connected to specific samples.
Another problem is the analysis of lead dust. Lead dust is dangerous even in very small quantities and is widely recognized as the main cause of childhood lead poisoning2. The dust is typically collected on an ASTM-approved towelette and wiped across a one-square-foot area (929 cm2), after which the “wipe” is analyzed to determine the lead load. The lead-dust concentration is expressed in µg/ft2 by dividing the observed lead content by the area. With the optional Dust Wipe Analysis Mode, the NITON 300 Series XRF analyzer allows for on-site execution of this analysis.
